An all-day cafe.
Cafe Mado is an all-day café and restaurant tucked between the Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Botanic Garden. With a menu that draws inspiration from the French and Italian Riviera, Mado balances casual elegance with serious cooking—offering bright, seasonal plates in the front café and a more expansive dining experience in its sun-drenched atrium. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick espresso or settling in for a long lunch, Mado is a place where time slows down, and good food does what it does best—bring people together.
The space transitions seamlessly throughout the day: in the morning, you’ll find locals grabbing coffee and breakfast on the go; by lunch, the atrium fills with conversation and plates of handmade pasta, market vegetables, and carefully sourced seafood. Mado was built around the idea of generous hospitality—reflected in its design, service, and the ever-evolving seasonal menu.
From the team behind Oxalis, Place des Fêtes, and Laurel Bakery, Cafe Mado carries forward the group’s signature mix of craft and warmth, with a kitchen rooted in regional technique and an ethos that values quality over excess. In 2024, the New York Times awarded Cafe Mado a glowing two-star review, calling it “a gem hiding in plain sight.”
Morning at Mado is built around simple pleasures done right. Located steps from Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Museum, Mado is a perfect stop for breakfast near Prospect Park—whether you’re dining in, grabbing a cortado on the way to the train, or ordering from home. Delivery is available for our full coffee and breakfast menu, including sandwiches and pastries, right here.
Cafe Mado is home to some of the best breakfast sandwiches in NYC—layered with care, wrapped to-go, and ready for mornings that demand something better. Whether it’s fluffy folded eggs with sharp cheddar, mortadella and egg on toasted brioche, or seasonal vegetarian builds, our sandwiches have become a favorite for locals and museumgoers alike. We pair them with espresso drinks an evolving list of seasonal coffee specials such as our pawpaw latte, along with classic pastries from our sister bakery Laurel.
Cafe Mado offers a rare kind of event setting in New York City—sunlight, space, and intimacy all in one. Our atrium dining room opens into a private garden patio, making it ideal for birthdays, rehearsal dinners, baby showers, corporate gatherings, and large group dinners. Available for full buyouts or semi-private reservations, the atrium seats groups comfortably without sacrificing ambiance.
